Happy Birthday to Us

Bagel Friends - can you believe it?! This month marks the 3rd anniversary of sharing bagels with all of you. More than 200 of you are on the mailing list, which has grown in large part, thanks to you telling your friends who become Bagels Friends and them telling their friends and on and on it goes. And even though we've been together for a long time, you still like bagels! So fabulous! Last month, in particular, you really liked bagels! Nearly 300 were bagels ordered for the April 28 pick-up alone.

May is an exciting month also, in thanks, to the Arbuckles debut at the Expat Expo on Sunday, May 27th. This is a really fun event showcasing local businesses owned by expats, which has a great atmosphere and many super friendly people. I hope you'll be able to come by and say Hi.

As most of you know, the kitchen I'm baking in, while approved by the authorities, is not much different from the kitchen you have at home. For the most part, this works fine. However, I have learned that for bread production, this is terribly, terribly inefficient. As a result, I am pausing bread production for the foreseeable future. If you have come to love it, or need some for special occasions, please let me know and we will work something out. I still strongly believe it is some of the most honest, best-crust bread around, and that there's a market for it, but now is not the time for it.

Thank you for your ongoing enthusiasm and commitment to Arbuckles bagels! We will eventually celebrate somehow, but until then, I raise a perfectly toasted bagel to you and wish you Guten Appetit
